Great snow storm of 2009

OK, so the big snow storm of 2009 has come and gone, and I don't feel any different. Sure the snow was 18 inches high and I had fun playing with my snow blower, but from the way the news was pushing this thing, you would think it was something out of the "Day After Tomorrow". Which was not as bad a movie as people say it was.

So if you are keeping score, like I am, then it is Michael 1 - Mother Nature 0. Bring on Round 2.
--
In other news, Debbie and I are having Christmas Day at our house year. It will be our last before little Mikey is born. Which for those keeping track should be around February 7, 2010.
--
Before I forget, let me thank Mike and Jen Malpass for a wonderful evening of food and frivolities. Debbie and I had a great time. Hopefully we can do it again, after Mikey is born.

Official Google Blog: Google Chrome for the holidays: Mac, Linux and extensions in beta

Official Google Blog: Google Chrome for the holidays: Mac, Linux and extensions in beta

Finally Chrome is customizable. I was a big fan of Firefox for just that reason, but ever since I have been using Chrome the only time I go back to FF is when I accidentally click the icon. I love how non-intrusive the extensions are. The Gmail notifier, Blog This! and GMail This are my favorites so far. Hopefully the selections become as vast as FF. Now if only Google allowed you to remove that stupid on behalf of message from Gmail, without having to reconfigure my mail server, then I would be in geek heaven.

November 22, 2009

So this morning Debbie and I finally cleaned up all the leaves that fell from the one big tree, that is not even ours.
8 1/2 bags of leaves in 3 hours.  I miss the days when you can just rake the stuff in to the street and the town would come clean it up.  This bagging it and leaving it for them is bull.
--
So my Jets again today.  Well there goes our 3-0 start.  I knew it was too good to be true.

Back to work tomorrow for a shortened holiday week.  Then a nice 4 day weekend.  Sweet.

November 20 2009

Long week. Glad it is the weekend. Birthday lunch for Debbie tommorrow. Now it is bedtime.

November 18, 2009

So we are one day closer to Debbie's Birthday.  November 21st for those who do not know.

Over the last several years I have made, what I consider, witty yet tasteful cards for her, not only for her birthday, but for other events as well.  Although, I must admit the quality and in some cases the humor, has declined, I believe the effort makes it worthwhile, so even if I have to resort to stealing others ideas, then so be it.

Tomorrow we will be joining other Gregov's at my parents for an early birthday celebration.  OK so maybe not a celebration, more like a shindig, or perhaps a hoe-down.  Either way I am sure fun will be had by some, if not all.
-
Thanksgiving, or as I like to call it, Slapsgiving....thank you endless hours of watching TV for that one.....will be at my parents house this year.  Turkey, chicken and maybe even a little fish.....yummy, oh right and family and friends will be there too.
--
Monday night we put up our Christmas tree.  It is not what you think.  Debbie's mom dropped off her fake tree that she has been using for quite a few years, so instead of leaving the box in the living room, we put up the tree.  It was rather easy.  Three parts that clicked together and a bunch plugs for the lights, since it is pre-lit.  I love the smell of a fake Christmas.
--
Well, that is all the updates I have for now.  I am hoping my posts get more entertaining as the days and months go on.  I do after all pride myself on my humor, dry as it may be.

November 13, 2009

Congratulations to Leo John and Jessica Schaeffer on the birth of their first child, Charlotte.
Also, Happy Birthday to Leo John's sister Dawn, who is also now an aunt.  That must have been a nice present.

So far today is turning out much better than yesterday.  Of course, if one listens to the weather forecasters, then we are about to experience the end of days.  Yes, we all know heavy rain is bad, but do they really need to put a weatherperson right on the coastline with eight foot waves crashing down all around them?  I think not.  I can just see the food stores, with hordes of mindless sheep buying "supplies" for the disaster that will never come.

Tonight may dad also returns from his ten day trip to Croatia.  Perhaps we will get more updates on the progress of the house.  For those who do not know, he is doing almost a complete renovation of our house.  Modernizing it, adding a few more rooms, and making it generally bigger and better. Preparing it for the day his offspring and our offspring can all be there at the same time.  One big, happy Croatian, Italian, German, Irish, and whatever else I left out, family.

This weekend is also the baptism of the newest Gregov (since ours is not yet born), my nephew Matthew.  If I remember to bring my camera or that my cell phone actually takes pictures I will post some here.

November 12, 2009

So today started out rather good, until I got to work.  Then the forces of evil descended upon me like flies on shit.  Let me start by saying certain people should NEVER be allowed alone with a computer.

Yes, some fucking douche in my company decided to download a rather nasty virus onto their PC.  This wonderful virus will not allow you to open any of your programs unless you purchase the companies anti-virus software, and even then it probably makes you purchase more every few months.  It also turned every file on the PC into a read-only file.  JOY!  Now, not only can you not open any programs, but they are all inaccessible as well.

The only solution, waste the entire day and valuable time, re-formatting the entire system.  Good thing windows takes hours to install, so at least we were able to get some work done in between mouse clicks.

At least I know when I go home I will not have to deal with these idiotic people.  Only a loving wife, a slightly retarded cat and lots of mind-numbing TV shows.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to Stacey and Jeff Stigliano.  Hope you have many, many, many more.  That is if your kids don't gang up and kill you first.  Like I am sure our kid will at some point....in fact I am counting on it, since I will be teaching him everything he would need to know to do it.  Anyhow, this is about you, not me and Debbie.  So again, Happy Anniversary and enjoy your day.

First let me say thank you to all the veterans out there.  Keep doing a great job.

It
has been a very long time since I have posted anything on this blog.
That could be because I have been using Facebook and really found no
reason to post here anymore.  Of course that has now changed now, that
I have enabled mobile Blogging.  I can now post directly from my phone
and hopefully link that to Facebook as well.  That is all for now.  If
anything new happens today I will be sure to let everyone know.

As the end of the work day approaches I look out the window in my
office.  Yes, I have a window, that I share with someone else, who sits
next to me, in a small cramped office, but that's not the point.  The
point is....oh crap, now I forgot my point.  Damn it!  Any way, for
those who have yet to read part one of my online novella, you can find
it here on this blog.  Under the heading Untitled, since I never
actually thought up a name for it yet.  Just wanted to self promote.
Later.

Ferburary 6, 2009

First let me say a congratulations to Joe and Rita Naviello on the birth of their first baby.
-
On that note, tonight is poker night. The January game turned out pretty well for me, I actually won some money, instead of my usual, losing money. Let's hope the trend continues. I will let you all know tomorrow how I did. That is pretty much all I got, so until next time.

February 3, 2009

So football season is finally over. Well except for that Pro Bowl thing, that no one watches.
Now we can look forward to baseball season, and the imminent disaster that will be my NY Yankees. No I do not have any confidence in them. At least not until they get that third out in the ninth inning.

Right now, as I sit here typing this, Buca is sitting on my lap staring up at me. It is as if he is looking right through to me to some unseen object in the distance. Kind of like I do when I am in my thinking mode.

Debbie's side business

For those of out there who are getting married, or having a birthday, engagement or any type of holiday party, and are looking to have personalized items, such as save the date cards, invitations, centerpieces, seating cards that are not just a piece of cardboard folded in half with names on them. Debbie is the person you need to see.

She made the seating cards, which actually were seating coasters for our wedding, she made our Save the date cards, and if it was not her own wedding and she did not have a thousand other things to do, she would probably have made the invitations, centerpieces and everything else. She will put the same care into creating your items as she put into ours.

If you attended our wedding, you know what I am talking about, if you did not and have a need for her services, please comment here or email me directly at michael.gregov@gmail.com for more information.

Samples of the coasters or Save the date cards can be shown upon request.

Thank you all for your support and hope to hear from you.

January 25, 2009

So this past week was long and tiring. Not just on the work side but at home as well.
As many of you know Debbie is sick. She has chest congestion and a bad cough, and was prescribed three different medications. So I have been doing everything I can to make sure she rests and takes her meds. Between my dad, the people at work and her, I am lucky that I have not yet caught something. Let's hope it stays that way.

For those who don't already know, Debbie's brother Dave is engaged. So the Dave and Cheryl wedding express is in full swing. Today (Sunday) they took us with them to see a place called the Water's Edge, down in South Jersey. A very nice place with a view of the ocean. Depending on when they have wedding and weather permitting the ceremony might be on the beach. So that should be very nice.

They also took us with them to what was essentially, two miniature bridal expos. Where vendors can hock their services to the couples. Those things can be helpful, for anyone who is unsure of exactly what they want or who simply want to compare prices. Debbie and I went to one hosted by a company called "The Pros" who we eventually ended up using.
--
I am not sure who reads this, or even if anyone does, but I am posting this here in case anyone is looking for condo to rent. Dave's fiance Cheryl is looking to rent out her condo. It is located in Neptune City, NJ and is going for about $1,500 a month. For more details You can go to Craig's list or simply click on Dave or Cheryl's profile from my friend's list.

January 20, 2009

George W. Bush's last day. This has been a long time coming.
Today truly was a historic day, there is no doubt about it.

Congratulations President Obama, lets hope your legacy is better than Mr. Bush's.

That is all I have to say about that.

January 17, 2009

So last night we went down to South Jersey to have dinner with Dave, Cheryl, Christine and Manny. We went to this nice Italian place very close to Dave and Cheryl's places. It was a small little place but the food was rather good, and the atmosphere quaint. Overall it was a very nice night.

It is always fun to get together with family and friends.

Today, I think I am just going to hang around at home. It is colder that a witches tit outside, so I will be staying indoors as much as humanely possible. Thank you very much.

January 15, 2009

So today is shaping up to be the coldest day of the year so far, and the next few days don't look like they will get any warmer.

We finally got our office heater fixed, so we no longer need to depend on little portable heaters from Home Depot. Although I will be keeping them handy should the heater die again, which it has a tendency to do, I guess that is what happens with 25 year old equipment.
--
I am very excited, for tonight starts the barrage of new episodes for all my favorite TV shows. I hope I remember to clear out the DVR tonight when I go home, or I might miss some of shows I can't watch.

I do feel sorry for Debbie, who is forced to live with my incredible geekiness. The shows I plan to watch to watch or record tonight, are not the ones we watch together. I will usually watch those when she is at work or on Friday nights, when there is nothing else on.

I subject that poor woman to so much geekiness as it is, why make her suffer through shows that I know she will hate. For those who care, those shows are Supernatural, Smallville, Heroes and Lost. In some cases, Terminator, Knight Rider and when the new V miniseries comes out, that too.

January 12, 2009

So today Misty was taken to the vet, to have her cold treated.
Now I was not there, but I hear that they needed several vets to atempt to give her a shot.
Apparently she turns into Misty the killer tiger whenever she goes to the vet. Anyhow, she is fine and was given medicine.

January 10, 2008

So last night was the first poker night of the new year. This year I started off on a good note, winning for the first time in many, many months. Let's hope the trend continues.
--
Tonight Debbie and myself had dinner with Dave and Cheryl. Went to Teresa's in Westfield. A very nice place with great food. It was actually supposed to be dinner with their cousin Christine and her boyfriend Manny, but due to illness and a snow storm, that 8 inches of show really kept everyone home, they had to reschedule. Guess that will happen another time.

On a side note, Buca is sitting in the box behind me. Not playing mind you, just sitting.

Tonight was also the first time we went to Trader Joe's. I had heard about it, and have wanted to go there for a long time. They have $3 bottles of wine, you heard correctly, $3, how can you be that. Well OK maybe if it was $2, but that is just insane. I am usually not a fan of those hoity toity yuppie type places, but for the prices they sell stuff, I am willing to give it a shot.

December 7, 2008

Get out the ark. It has been raining, literally all day here in NJ. Oh, am I dredding the commute home. Stupid morons sliding all over the place and hitting their brakes every 5 feet.

Speaking of NJ, our wonderful governor released his proposed budget for fiscal year 2009. Packed full of well, nothing. Basically he plans cut minor useless spending. Mostly in vague accounts like General purpose fund of some stupid crap like that. Our new slogan should be, "New Jersey, We will gladly fuck you up the ass, so bend over."
--
So, yesterday my office had a visit from one of our customers in France. He was telling me that in France they are looking forward to the end of the George W Bush era and the beginning of the Barack Obama term. I asked him how people in France reacted to his win this past November, and he told me, they were extremely happy, since the majority of French people do not like Mr. Bush. I have a feeling if the question was asked in other parts of the world you would get the same reaction.

Of course, we will see if they feel the same come January 2010, after Obama has been in office a while. It will be a tough job for him, since he inherits a crumbling economy, 2 wars and a country that is so divided you need binoculars to see from one side to the other. Only time will tell.
--
Tonight also begins the slow return of new episodes for some of my favorite TV Shows. Tonight we have Ghost Hunters, not the original but GH international. It is not the same thing but still it is new. And I have begun the Lost countdown. January 21, 2009...the wait is killing me. My DVR is all set and hopefully doesn't crap out on me. Until then I guess I will just have to continue playing more Wii.
--
Everyday I am getting more Wii Friends. Next up Debbie's cousins Christine and Dawn. Once they hook up their consoles and get them online that is.

I never realized how addicting that thing can be. I find myself wanting to play everyday, whether it be Wii Sports or Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

January 6, 2009

So I have come to the realization that no matter what I do I will always have to go to work. As much as I wish I didn't have to.

What I mean is that I wish someone would walk up to me and hand a briefcase full of money, and say to me, "here young man, take it, I don't need it anymore". Of course we all know that only happens in the movies, and it never ends well. But I digress, life is not that simple.
--
So anyway, we are supposed to be getting a nice winter storm coming tonight. Which means the morons who populate NJ roads roads will be out in droves tomorrow....joy. I guess I will just have to be extra careful on my commute in to work.
--
Right now, Buca is sitting on my lap. That cat really likes following me around.

Oh well, see you tomorrow.

Monday, January 5, 2009

January 5, 2009

So today was officially my first day of work for 2009.
So far things are going well. Even with an economy that is in the tank, I think we will be OK.
--
This weekend I bought Super Smash Bros. for the Wii.
I didn't realize how intense that game can be. Now I know why 8 year olds spend all their free time playing it.

I never realized how much fun the Wii can be. Mind yo I love my PS3 but this thing is addicting on a whole new level.

January 2, 2009

The first post of the new year. Sweet.

So today we took down our Christmas tree and several decorations, all that is now left now is for me to take down the lights....joy.

Tonight Bill came over for the first time since I got the Wii. We ended up having a baseball game that ended in a 0-0 tie. In fact, it was two perfect games. He also showed me this new channel, where you can download Miis from around the world, that people create. We downloaded Darth Vader for me and the Pink Panther for Debbie. They look amazingly good.
